JENNY GOODFELLOW

Sunderland-based photographer Jenny Goodfellow is an emerging artist and final year student at University of Sunderland where she is studying for a BA in Photography, Video, and Digital Imaging. Jenny has developed a range of skills during her studies including sports, political demonstrations, events, portraiture, still life, and research-based projects using digital and analogue techniques in the field and photographic studio, combining outdoor photography with still life and constructed images. Her preferred medium is analogue film photography and printing in a black and white or colour darkroom, but she is also adept at digital photography and post-processing using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Her current practice focuses on current events or trends and their impact on our society and environment bringing together research and imagery to create informative projects reflecting the world we live in today. Her work is created using a home-made studio and simple lighting as well as around the local area during daily walks. With the Covid-19 lockdown and barriers to travel and accessing professional equipment, Jenny has used her own self-reliance to research ideas and create work from her home.

Jenny has worked and volunteered with a range of clients such as North East Photography Network (NEPN), Team Sunderland Sports, University of Sunderland, LaunchPad HR, Stand Up to Racism, Sunderland Interfaith Forum, and North East Against Racism to document events using photography and video, and has had work printed in news sources such as Sunderland Echo, Socialist Worker, and SR News.
